DECEMBER CLUBDAY
What a great turnout from all our members, good weather saw over 35 karts and 4 bikes there racing for the day, and it was great to see the various support classes with ladies race, mechanics race, etc having some big fields. Special thanks must go to Viki Davy for the superb meal that was provided at the ....
end of racing. Also great to see you all stay around for a drink and some socialising. Great comradery and a real club spirit shone through.
JANUARY CLUBDAY
This is our next clubday and will be run on Sunday 17 January 2010. This is the next clubday before CIK and we are expecting a large turnout of Karts as people travel from around the country to practice for Februarys CIK meeting. We will run the January clubday in CIK format and the track direction will be clockwise ( or normal direction )
TE PAPA HAVE A GO WINNER
The winner of the Te Papa have a go competition was Ben Haughy and he is from Wellington. Ben will be joining us at our January clubday and racing in the senior class. Can we please ask that we have a good field of senior drivers at January clubday as Bens attendance will get some media coverage and we do want some karts for him to race against. I will send a note out in January as a reminder and looking for driver registrations for the day.
CIK Trophy of NZ
The CIK Trophy of New Zealand that we are hosting on February 12, 13, 14 is now getting very close. Those of you at clubday will have seen the extensive amount of work that has been done so far and there is still more to do. The turn out at the last working bee was very poor. We will be having another working bee in January and will let you know this date very soon. If you are going to the track to practice take your weedeater and spend an hour weed eating or take a few litres of roundup and spray it around. It all helps. Special thanks must go to John Picard and Phil Davy for the hours of work they do at the track. Events like CIK bring in a large cash surplus for the club and we use this money to upgrade the facilities for you all.
CIK PERSONNEL
To run an event like CIK we need a large number of helpers on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you are available for any of theses days can you please let me know at club@kartsportwellington.co.nz. Even just a morning or afternoon on any day will help. We will have a roster set up and will move you around the various jobs so you wont be stuck in the same place all day. as the event is now very close it is quite urgent that we start to finalise our helpers.
FINALLY
Our new track sponsor CRC will start to have there signs up around the track, there are already a lot of other new signs that look very smart. remember that a sign costs $250 for a 12 month period and we can put you in contact with both a designer and sign writer. You will get great coverage with CIK being televised.
Still some classes available for sponsoring at CIK and there are some great package options available. We will be having a sponsors marquee at the event so also a good opportunity if you are a sponsor to bring some clients along and let our lovely hostesses entertain them for the weekend.
Thanks to Tony Stewart of Intergen our club website will shortly have a new host and our web master Simon Burling-Claridge has designed a fresh new look. Look out for this soon.
Next year is Kartsport Wellingtons 50th anniversary and we will be having some special functions and events to mark this special occasion.
Look out for our new honours boards that will shortly be erected in the clubrooms recognising those members who have won in the various classes over the last 50 years.
Think that's it from me this year, hope you have all enjoyed receiving the updates and if there is any more info you think should be included or any improvements you would like to see let me know.
Have a great break
Turn off your phone, put your feet up, sleep in, eat plenty, daydream, smile all the time, hug plenty, just be present with your family, work can wait for a while, just enjoy, that is what you work for
