Greetings to you all
CIK TROPHY
Well we have now successfully run the CIK Trophy of New Zealand over the last three days at our track. What an amazing event and the success of the event comes down to you our members and the support and work that has been done to make this possibly the best ever CIK meeting held in NZ. The weather did its usual Kaitoke thing with a mixture of rain, wind and of course beautiful fine weather for the finals on Sunday.
There are so many people to thank, special thanks must go to:
- Vicki Davy and her team of helpers who ran the shop and bar, the selection of food was outstanding and there were many comments from drivers, and the visitors from around the country that we have the best karting kitchen in New Zealand.
- Grant Bristow and his team of helpers who ran the Park Ferme area, they were all thrown into something they had never done before, with some very stringent rules about what they could and couldnt do. The feedback from the racing teams that used Park Ferme was that we had the friendliest and best run Park Ferme in New Zealand.
- Peter King for for being there and doing all those background jobs that just seem to come up, from erecting television scaffolds, moving sponsor signs, emptying rubbish bins, covering when helpers needed breaks, the list is endless.
- Michelle Donohue and Charmaine Jones for organising and entertaining our sponsors in the sponsors area. The sponsors of the event certainly appreciated the refreshments and lunch that was there for them along with the excellent viewing location.
- Peter Cartwright and his team of Kartsport New Zealand stewards and tech officers who run the racing along with Margaret Newton, Vicki Park, and there race control team.
- Andrew Donohue, my co convenor, there is not enough room to list all the various tasks Andrew has arranged and helped with but he has basically been at the track for the last week full time. Thank you Andrew.
- Phil Davy, John Picard and there team of workers who have done all the improvements around the track to bring the outstanding facility that we now have and presented to our New Zealand and International drivers. The feedback on the track and facilities was again amazing.
- The CIK sub committee of Gary Wilson, Brent Melhop, Phil Davy, Andrew Donohue, Peter Cartwright and Wayne Keats who held many extra meetings over the last 6 months.
Finally a BIG thankyou to you our members and the Bucket Bikers who came and helped over the three days with flagging, park ferme, recovery vehicle, etc without you we could not hold this event. Events like this generate a large revenue for the club which we can put back into improving our facilites for you. I have seen the list of improvements our works team have proposed and there are some pretty awesome things coming.
CIK SPONSORS
Thank you to the local businesses who helped with major sponsorship including, Eyede New Zealand, Upper Hutt City Council, Rocket Fuel Sauces, Caltex Upper Hutt, Carlton Party Hire, Spark Services and Lascom Motorsport, along with our track sponsor CRC and all the other sponsors who provided signs, food, printing, vests, storeage, etc.

FINALLY
Well done to all the Wellington drivers who raced at the CIK meeting and the results they achieved, to our cadet drivers who are still waiting there final result pending a technical decision good luck and hope it does not take too long to get the result.
Cadet class seems to be our biggest growing class at the moment, so come on you senior drivers get some of your mates along and show them what a great sport karting is and remember we do have a club kart that can be booked for test drives.
The new kartports that have beem built are now available for lease, so let me know if you would like one, or come and talk to me on club day, a few are all ready gone so be in quick.
Thats all from me, see you all at the track.
